This hotel was surprisingly amazing. We traveled to Chicago for a short family vacation after Christmas. We saw a few museums and walked the city. First off, our room was really nice. I booked a normal room but was upgraded to a 1-bedroom suite. Our daughter slept on the pull-out in the living room and we got the king bed in the bedroom. Both were comfortable. The bathroom was really large and nice. FYI no bathtub in the bathroom, standing shower only. I feel like the value we got out of this stay was amazing. Breakfast was included and it was a really good breakfast, everything was clean and fresh, well stocked, and tasted really good. Very large selection. This saved us a ton of money compared to staying elsewhere. Other similar hotels in the city are priced about the same and had no free breakfast. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Upon check-in, I was told they had automatically put late check-out on our reservation. I have status with Marriott but I usually have to ask for late check-out and often I am told they cannot do it. I was very pleased to see them offer it without even asking. We did not use the on-site parking, we used SpotHero to find parking about a block away. Overall we are very happy with this hotel. We would stay here again.

Ideal space and price for an extended city stay

I don't know if deals were better since I went during winter in February but the price and amount of living spaces can't be beat considering a hotel room in a big city. Everything was modern, fresh, and new. Not sure how recently but seems room have been updated, cleaned, and kept up well. Pros ------- Spacious bathroom and shower Separate seating area with tv, couch and desk Wide selection at breakfast (not sure if only because it was the weekend but can't expect any better hotel breakfast for free/included in room price) Public parking was available about a block away Not far from multiple bus or metro stops Short walk to many main attractions like Cadillac or CIBC Theaters and others in the theater district, as well as Willis Tower, Millenium Park to name a few. A couple Chicago staples close by such as The Goddess and The Baker , Italian Village and Revival Food Hall.

We arrived on a Saturday around 2 pm for a quick weekend trip. Our room was ready right away - 3rd floor in the corner. We had a 1 BR suite with two queen beds as we were traveling with our 13 yo daughter. The hotel is a short walk from the Washington/Wells train station so you won't have any problems getting around the city. The room was decent enough size for the three of us. A small kitchen (though no toaster), basic coffee machine, small cooktop, dishwasher, sink and fridge. There were chairs at the bar plus a couch and two lounge chairs, a large desk with chair in the main area. There was a sliding door between it and the bedroom which was nice for my night owl husband. The bathroom had a separate little room for the toilet, and I was glad to see a shower with an actual door on it (and not these stupid pony walls some hotel showers have now) - although the shower head wasn't the best (pretty weak pressure, even if you changed the spray). There seemed to be no exhaust fan at all so hopefully whomever you share with is okay with...smells LOL. Again the room was very quiet and 99% of the time, although the city street noise woke my husband early the second morning. (I'm sure higher floors would be better for that.) We were usually the only ones on the multitude of elevators so no long waits ever for one of those. The first morning at breakfast - it was a bit lord of the flies LOL. Just a lot of people there, hard to get around people to get what you wanted, people standing around looking - but plenty of seats still available (we were there the last 40 minutes or so that they were serving). Its your basic breakfast fare - cereals, toast/bagels, yogurt, juices and coffee (only milk available was to put on your cereal), a different hot item each day. The first day was sausages, waffles and eggs; the second was pre-made bagel sandwiches with egg and sausage and some Canadian bacon (not the best). You enter the hotel on the 1st floor which is where you'll catch an Uber/Lyft, etc. and then go up to the 2nd floor for the lobby/restaurant/breakfast area. I think that's pretty standard for most hotels in the city. TIP: There is a 7-11 just around the corner in case you need any snacks or forgot anything when you packed. Overall, we'd stay here again, although I would see what availability other Marriott's in the same area had first - it wasn't stellar by any means but definitely decent enough. We've stayed in a Spring Hill Suites at River North before but actually thought this location was a bit better for public transport, etc.

Stayed in a 1 bedroom suite for a girls weekend. Amenities are really well suited for this (2 queen beds, pull-out sofa bed, two sink vanity in bathroom, full kitchen, living room seating area). Excellent value given it's a downtown hotel - free breakfast with an excellent assortment of hot & cold foods, good wifi, and no stupid resort/urban fees. Hotel was ideally located for all the holiday activities we wanted to do: Christkindlmarket at Daley Plaza, Chicago Tree lighting at Millennium Park, lunch at the Walnut Room, Magnificent Mile Lights Festival parade and fireworks at Wacker Drive. Would definitely recommend!

I was happy with every aspect of my stay at this Residence Inn: - the room was comfortable and spacious, with huge windows looking out to Lake Michigan, seating area, large desk and cook-able kitchen; - the free breakfast was above average, with a selection of cold/hot options both meat and vegetarian, even iced coffee; - the basement gym was spacious and well-equipped; - the Roanoke on-site restaurant had a full, international menu (I only tried the burger, but it was fine); - service was without any issue, no attitude and efficient; - the location was super convenient to all public transport (both to Midway and OHare - and equal time as a taxi - only $3!), easy walking distance many companies as well to tourist sites (waterfront, navy pier, millennium park, art institute, river tours etc) One note - I requested a high floor, with a view - which does require a cumbersome elevator transfer and you give up the sofa. Totally worth it for me! Loved the Architecture Center river tour - it’s a nonprofit and run by excellent, passionate and knowledgeable volunteers. Highly recommend! The Andersonville neighborhood is a bit of a hike on the red line, but totally worth checking out for a more young/trendy side of Chicago.
